Green Smoothie

The Recipe of the Month for April is our Green Smoothie. There are quite a few benefits for this recipe! It boosts your fruit and vegetable intake (particularly of greens), it increases your energy, it’s an excellent source of fiber, it strengthens your immune system, it’s a great source of minerals for healthy bones, and it’s an excellent source of antioxidants for your skin.

And who doesn’t love a smoothie?

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 1 cup of romaine lettuce
  • 1/2 cup chopped cucumber
  • 1 chopped pear
  • 1 orange
  • 4 cups of water
  • 1 tsp. mint
  • pinch of ginger root, peeled and minced
  • 1 cup of ice

Preparation:

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender.
  2. Blend well.
  3. Best served chilled!

Makes 4 servings.
