Santa Cruz Chefs Dinner- September

This annual signature event includes a 6-course meal prepared by local chefs and paired with fine local wines. It includes a live and silent auction and benefits Second Harvest’s Award Winning Food For Children Program.

What is Food For Children?

Winner of the Congressional Victory Against Hunger Award, Food For Children provides fresh produce and essential food staples to children and families at dozens of sites throughout Santa Cruz County. Fresh and healthy foods can be rare – and un-affordable – in many low-income communities, but Food For Children brings the produce aisle to the neighborhood. Staff offer nutrition tips and menu ideas to help parents prepare the food in healthy ways, so back at home, the whole family eats well, and the kids are taking in not only the vitamins and nutrients they need to learn in school, but also the healthy habits they need for a successful future. For the past 16 years, the Annual Santa Cruz Chefs’ Dinner has serves as the signature fundraiser for Food For Children.

Hunger Action Month – September Awareness Campaign

Participation

During June and July Second Harvest will come to your place of business and photograph your team with hunger awareness props. We ask you to wear orange (the official color of hunger) for the photo shoot. Photos are posted on social media in September with a video slideshow showing your team supporting the fight against hunger
