Sunset Grown/Mastronardi’s is Food Donor of the Year

Second Harvest Food Bank Santa Cruz County announced the Food Donor of the Year at the Annual Partner Agency Conference held in October.

Sunset Grown/Mastronardi’s is a 4th generation family owned produce company that is now growing organic, green house grown produce in the Pajaro Valley.

In 2020, Sunset Grown/Mastronardi’s donated over 233,000 pounds of tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers to Second Harvest Food Bank.  This donation increased our ability to sever over 75,000 people who needed food assistance in our community.

Sunset Grown’s mission is to inspire healthy living through WOW flavor experiences.  This blends so well with Second Harvest’s mission to work together to end hunger through healthy food, education and leadership.
Our vision is to have a thriving community where everyone has access to the nutritious food needed to support their health and well-being, and if we can do this through WOW flavors and beautiful, local, sustainable, non GMO produce, that’s a win for the community. By providing Safe Quality Food, Sunset is also avoiding many of the chemicals found in more traditional agricultural production.

Sunset Grown/Mostronardi Produce relocated to Castroville at the end of 2019, which made it easy to partner with Second Harvest Food Bank, and they are honored to provide healthy options to those who need it most in our community. It is a priority for Sunset to support the community and to inspire others to live healthier, happier lives.  They take PRIDE (passion, respect, innovation, drive and excellence) in their work and help to solve the issues of food insecurity and waste with each and every fruit and vegetable that they donate.

Thank you Sunset Grown/Mastrondari Produce for helping to feed hope in Santa Cruz County.
