Outreach Programs

  • Community Food Hotline Referrals
Besides directing callers to sources of food, the Hotline makes referrals to a variety of social and health services. Those in need of food or other services should be referred to the Community Food Hotline at (831) 662-0991.
  • Emergency Preparedness
Second Harvest teamed up with PG&E to produce a customizable Family Emergency Planning Guide. You can download it in English or Spanish.
  • CalFresh Assistance
Second Harvest offers SAR 7 Workshops and our bilingual staff are trained to assist low-income individuals with CalFresh applications. The CalFresh Program provides qualified low-income families with an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card that can be used to purchase nutritious food from most food stores and some farmers’ markets. For information or assistance with or applying for CalFresh call Joel Campos, Director of Community Outreach, at (831) 722-7110, ext. 222.
  • Hunger 101
Schools, civic organizations, companies, churches, clubs and others are invited to learn about Second Harvest Food Bank’s efforts to end hunger in our communities. An interactive presentation, Hunger 101, allows participants to learn to make the choices faced by many low-income families grappling with hunger. We also have a variety of presentations appropriate for every age and grade level.
  • Request a Presentation
To arrange a presentation on hunger or to arrange a food bank tour for your organization or group, contact Joel Campos.
