National Association Of Letter Carriers’ Food Drive
Stamp Out Hunger
The National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive is held annually on the second weekend in May, the Saturday before Mother’s Day, and is the largest food drive in the nation. Second Harvest helps to collect food and monetary donations for Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties. What can you do? On the designated day, leave a non-perishable or monetary donation for your letter carrier to pick up. It’s that simple! Second Harvest staff and volunteers receive the food and distribute it to our agencies and programs that help feed 43,000 individuals and families per month. Food collected in Santa Cruz stays in Santa Cruz, and food collected in San Benito stays in San Benito.
How can you help?
- Be a Block Captain – pass out bags to your block and remind your neighbors to fill them and place the food in front of the mail box.
- Be a Site Coordinator – coordinate volunteers, register volunteers, oversee unloading of the mail trucks, hand out snacks, water and sodas.
- Be a Warehouse Volunteer – unload Second Harvest trucks as they come back to Second Harvest.
