Our Community's Growing Need
Second Harvest Food Bank has determined an urgent need to expand and renovate our current facility. We distribute 6.3 million pounds of food annually to 43,000 local families and individuals per month. Over the last five years, our efforts have enabled us to increase the amount of food distributed by 80%. However, studies show it is not enough.
Second Harvest must be able to distribute 10 million pounds of food annually by 2015--almost double current capacity. To do this, we have embarked on a $4.3 million expansion project that will ensure that no one goes hungry in Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties. See a video about our project.
