The Housing Market and Need

The relatively high cost of housing in our area is a factor in the transition from self-sufficiency to need. The Center for Housing Policy released a report called Paycheck to Paycheck 2010. You can look up how Santa Cruz fares here.

According to Santa Cruz Sentinel reporter Jondi Gumz, housing in our area is still out of reach for many of the workers in our community, in spite of decreasing housing prices from the economic downturn.
This report does not detail how the rental market, which has been reported in another article as the highest in the state, is influencing the number of people who come to Second Harvest members for assistance.
Do any readers want to share their own experience with juggling housing costs in our area?
