If you haven’t been to the food bank lately, you might not know that we are undergoing our third-and final-phase of warehouse expansion.
Here you can see workers in a big pit on the north side of Second Harvest’s warehouse.
Later on, a concrete mixer with a long attachment began to pour the concrete needed to build this addition, which will take shape over the next few months. When complete, there will be a new food re-packing room where volunteers will gather to bag fresh produce and other foods for local families in need. The room will feature new equipment and a better design for improved efficiency, and is expected to allow up to one-third more food to be distributed. It will go a long way towards helping us to meet our 10 million pound-per-year goal.
Many thanks to USDA Rural Development for providing the means to start this project ahead of expectation. Stay tuned for more expansion updates!
