USDA Distribution Serves 1426 Households

Volunteers sort food for USDA distribution

Second Harvest served 1426 households during the Watsonville USDA distribution on July 11, 2011. This was a 13% increase compared to July 2010 and a 44% increase compared to July 2009.

Historically, the need for food assistance in the Pajaro Valley is the lowest during harvest time. However, even though thousands of local residents are currently back at work in the agricultural sector, more people than ever need food assistance year-round to make ends meet.
