Stamp Out Hunger Raises 44,117 Pounds

Thanks to everyone who left a bag of non-perishable food by their mailbox for Stamp Out Hunger! With your support, we raised 44,117 pounds of food in Santa Cruz County.

We’re happy to report that donations increased slightly overall and  to congratulate three local post offices that saw significant increases over 2011. Capitola Post Office raised 76% more food than in 2011 and Aptos Post Office increased 107% over last year. Hats off to the Scotts Valley Post Office, whose 154% increase over 2011 is amazing!

Special thanks to the postal carriers for their hard work and all the extra effort they put in to make Stamp Out Hunger a great success year after year. Thanks also to the volunteers who sorted thousands of pounds of food as it came into our local post offices.

Thanks again to our generous community. All of the food you donated will be distributed through Second Harvest’s network of 200 agencies and programs throughout Santa Cruz County.
