Second Harvest staff, community volunteers and on-air personalities from local radio stations had no intention of letting a wet and chilly morning dampen their spirits one recent Saturday as they greeted shoppers at Safeway stores across Santa Cruz County to collect food and cash donations for the 2012 Holiday Food Drive.
Safeway’s food drive took place on Saturday, November 17th. While many customers chose to purchase and donate one of Safeway’s pre-packaged food bags for $10, others selected their own non-perishable items or made a cash donation.
All together, the community really came through, contributing a total of 8,831 meals.
Thanks to all everyone who helped make the Safeway food drive such a success.
