We are fortunate to have three new AmeriCorps volunteers joining our Programs Group. Suzanne Patterson and Eva Holt-Rusmore will be working with our Passion for Produce program with Teresa Moran, Nutrition Programs Manager. Esperance Ndombe will be working in Agency Relations/Distribution with Rebecca Henderson, Agency Relations Manager.
A student at the University of New Hampshire, Esperance wanted to see someplace new and have some new experiences. She likes doing community service and meeting new people. Her great organizational skills will come in handy as she interfaces with the agencies and programs that distribute food throughout Santa Cruz County.
Suzanne lived in San Diego and had a career as a personal chef before she shifted gears and joined the Peace Corps, where she was assigned to the Ukraine. She believes that social programs are where she belongs. She like to be out in community helping people and Second Harvest will give her the opportunity to that.
A recent graduate of UC Berkeley, Eva spent the past year living in Portugal. She has always wanted to work at a food bank and has been involved in food justice for years. Working to educate the community is something she really cares about, so this assignment at Second Harvest turned out to be the perfect match.
These great volunteers hit the ground running; in fact, it was pretty tricky just trying to get them all together for a picture. We’re so glad to have them on board!
