New Leaf Community Markets Raises 51,116 Meals!

A desire to help people in our community—combined with a little friendly competition—motivated New Leaf cashiers to raise $17,779 this holiday season. New Leaf Marketing Assistant, Zach Shull, did a great job his first year coordinating the effort, providing cashiers with buttons to wear and promotional materials to display at their registers. Since every dollar donated provides four meals, New Leaf raised 51,116 meals for hungry people in Santa Cruz County.

Naomi Dresser, Marketing Manager for New Leaf, says their participation in the Holiday Food Drive began in the Santa Cruz stores but has now expanded to include their stores in Boulder Creek, Felton, Evergreen, Half Moon Bay and Pleasanton. All together New Leaf raised $39,753 for people in need.

Thanks to the staff at New Leaf for your efforts and to everyone in our community that made a donation at the register. All Holiday Food Drive donations are used to purchase and distribute food to people in need through Second Harvest’s network of 200 agencies and programs across Santa Cruz County.
