New Agency Distribution Area Opens

Tuesday was an exciting day as our new agency distribution area opened for business for the first time. This is where our network of more than 200 agencies and pantries come to shop for the food they will distribute to people in need throughout Santa Cruz County.

Rebecca Henderson and Ted Lux

Agency Relations Coordinator, Rebecca Henderson, says everyone is really happy to be able to come back to the warehouse to shop. “Everything is in one area and you can see everything better,” she says. “The improvements make it it so much easier,¬†especially the new parking lot.”

Mark Rodriguez, Warehouse/Driver

While the area was under construction, agencies had to order everything online. Although some may continue to do at least part of their shopping that way, Agency Shopping Volunteer, Ted Lux, explains that, “Soup kitchens and others who prepare meals with the food they get from Second Harvest, are thrilled to be able to shop again and pick out what they want.”

Nicole Rider, AmeriCorps Volunteer

Everyone loves the new facility!
