In years past, Dominican Hospital has honored its treasured employees during national Hospital Week by placing a congratulatory ad in the paper. This year Dominican decided to make a donation on behalf of their staff instead. The employees chose Second Harvest.
Tuesday, May 14th, the hospital had a barbecue for staff with lots of yummy food, including carrots from their garden. Second Harvest was invited to attend the lunch and accept a check for $2500, which will provide 10,000 meals to people in need.
Nanette Mickiewicz, MD, Hospital President, said the idea came about while looking at different ways to reach out and support the community.
Thanks to everyone at Dominican Hospital for your support of Second Harvest and our network of 200 agencies and programs that distribute healthy food to people in need throughout Santa Cruz County.
