The 2013 Hunger Fighters of the Year have been chosen and will be honored at Second Harvest’s Annual Award Dinner on March 13th. These women truly contribute so much to our community. We are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize their accomplishments and express our appreciation for their years of service.
Claudine Wildman has spent her career in public service championing opportunities for the low-income members of our community and creating partnerships to educate and involve our County government and community in the fight against hunger and malnutrition. Through her work for the County of Santa Cruz Human Services Department, she has worked to reduce and eliminate barriers to access to the CalFresh program and has been instrumental in increasing outreach and application assistance.
Katherine Sutton has been delivering meals to homebound residents of Santa Cruz County for 26 years through Meals on Wheels. A refugee from Poland during World War II, Katherine knows what it is like to not have food and to suffer from illness. Surviving that experience instilled her with the passion to help others living through difficult circumstances. She has delivered meals tirelessly, with an open and generous heart because she believes contact with people brings them hope and her bottom line is that people need hope.
Please join us for a fun evening in celebration of our Hunger Fighters and Community Heroes at Second Harvest’s Annual Awards Dinner on March 13th at the Paradox Hotel in Santa Cruz.
