We received the following message from Pastor Steven Moran of Casa del Alfafero (Potter’s House) Pan de Vida in Watsonville and wanted to share it with the community because it exemplifies the generosity of our neighbors and the businesses in Santa Cruz County.
We wish to thank you so much for collaborating with us in our annual community outreach we call Navidad para Todos. The elements were definitely a challenge but we were able to count on a hardy group of about 50 volunteers from the Casa del Alfarero to realize the distribution to the community.
We were supported by Freedom Meat Locker, who donated over 200 hams, and Vapor Cleaners, who donated jackets, which were immediately utilized by children and adults who came out in the rain with nothing but a plastic garbage bag over them.
More than 200 families received food from Second Harvest and between 500-600 toys from Toys for Tots and private donors were beautifully wrapped and distributed. Special thanks also to Impala Car Club, who brought toys for the distribution as well.
Casa del Alfarero provided free used clothing for those who desired it, as well as hot posole. We also raffled off seven brand new bikes for free. Our estimate is that between 700-1000 people showed up between 10:30 am and 4 pm. Thanks again to all our friends who have supported us these past years with the hope that this will continue for years to come. Happy New Year and prosperity and blessings to all.
