Chefs’ Dinner Raises Over 200,000 Meals

Second Harvest hosted its annual Santa Cruz Chefs’ Dinner on September 13 at the Holy Cross Annex in Santa Cruz. All proceeds from the event benefit Food For Children, which has been providing kids throughout Santa Cruz County with healthy food for over ten years.

Working with a committed group of volunteers, Food For Children provides fresh fruit and vegetables and other basic foods to 9,000 children every month at 50 distribution sites. The program also educates families on the benefits of eating healthy, being active and working together to build strong communities where children can thrive.

The Moroccan themed event featured brightly colored linens and flowers, a five-course gourmet dinner, and silent and live auctions with many items donated by local businesses. Servers included staff from Plantronics and Community Foundation Santa Cruz County.
