AmeriCorps & MLK Day of Service

Every year, Notre Dame Mission Volunteers’ team of 15 AmeriCorps members honor the legacy of Dr. King on MLK Day by volunteering at Second Harvest. On January 20th, they packed 350 produce bags for distribution, sorted and packed ten bins of Holiday Food Drive non-perishable food, bar coded food product, and prepared hundreds of dental hygiene kits to give away in the community.

These AmeriCorps members are no strangers to community service. Each one has committed a year to full-time service in the Watsonville community, where they serve in schools, after school programs, and Second Harvest Food Bank.

However, this day provided a break in their normal routine and a fun opportunity to work alongside their teammates. They were pleased to be able to support Second Harvest’s mission and help strengthen the community!
