POSITION: COMMUNITY HOTLINE VOLUNTEER

PURPOSE: 

• The Hotline provides referrals to community members in need of food or other services throughout Santa Cruz County. 

TIME COMMITMENT:

• After training, three months of Hotline service is requested.
• 4 hours, one day per week ( M - F  8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm)

TASKS:

• Answers incoming calls and remember to be respectful & compassionate when asking calls
• Gives information, referrals and resource assistance to callers
• Maintains accurate records and data entry
• Assists in other activities requested by other departments but Hotline tasks are a priority

 SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Cope with a high volume of phone calls
• Good verbal communication skills
• Friendly and sensitive attitude toward callers and all who seek assistance
• Basic clerical skills
• Attention to detail
• Bilingual Spanish/English a plus but not required

TRAINING: Supervisor will train volunteers in all tasks required.
